I am more of technical forex trader, but that bias comes with some important reasons, especially for retail traders. Fundamental analysis is important, but it does not do a good job with defining and limiting risk…especially when traders are wrong. Technical analysis takes care of that problem. That is why retail traders should care about the technicals.

Mr Greg, you have been a great blessing to me: I have watched your videos with FXDD, FXStreet and Forexlive, i find consistency in your approach to trading. I love the fundermentals, news events and inter-market analysis but I love Technical analysis better because I can DEFINE and LIMIT my risk. Thank you sir and God bless you real good.

What are the reasons to not go with R:R = 1:1 Ratio? My thinking is if I go with R:R = 1:1 (fill or kill) and only close early if fundamentals change, I only need a little more than 50% winning trades to be profitable. By cutting some sure loosing trades short, this should boost performance even more. For example, with R:R = 1:5 you should get like 5 times more loosing trades which are compensated by a few big winning trades . Both aproaches work with a strict money management, but I don't see a reason why one is better than the other. Doesn't it come down to psychology wich approach makes it easier for you to follow your own money management rules?
